Urban Wildlife

I took a new path
And I discovered this spot
It was off the beaten path and isolated
Too many cardinals to count flew
from branch to branch
A couple of nuthatches and chickadees
chirped and sang
Two squirrels wove through the underbrush
A rabbit hopped quickly by
A police officer strode past,
the most unexpected sighting.
Ah, urban wildlife.
